Job Gateway is Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry’s initiative to transform the landscape of how job-seekers find family sustaining jobs and how employers find the skilled candidates. A job matching system has been created to help bridge the gap between job-seekers and employers.
Several public and private workforce development agencies joined to form Pennsylvania CareerLink. This system has both Internet-based services located at JobGateway and a network of local offices.
L&I administers benefits to unemployed individuals, oversees the administration of workers compensation benefits to individuals with job related injuries, and provides vocational rehabilitation to individuals with disabilities. The department prepares job seekers for the workforce through employment and job training services for adult, youth, older workers, and dislocated workers. In addition, L&I enforces various laws and safety standards in the workplace and administers the commonwealth's programs for community service by young Pennsylvanians.
L&I also promotes economic development and an improved business climate through a variety of initiatives and programs such as Agricultural Services for Farm Workers, Apprenticeship & Training, Asbestos Occupations Certification, Federal Bonding, Lead Occupations Certification, PA Rapid Reemployment Program (RRP), PA ReEmployment Program (PREP), Services for the Mature Job Seeker, Services for Veterans, Single Point of Contact Program (SPOC).
Provides an online search for federal jobs. The site also contains a tool kit specifically targeted for federal job hunters. The kit includes software, publications, services, and provides advice and how-to information needed to land the jobs found in the database.
BPN provides training and employment services for individuals with mental, physical, and economic challenges.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State Civil Service Commission's website contains a listing of information on current state civil service examinations that are open for application. The website provides the summary of civil service examinations lists and the test announcements of jobs that are currently open. The list is updated monthly.
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Bureau of State Employment website contains a listing of information on state non-civil service jobs that are currently open. The job title and description for each position are available, along with a downloadable "Personal Data Sheet," and a sample resume that provides tips for developing resumes.
